Array Gain as a Function of SNR for the Beam-based MVSC Adaptive Beamformer
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper examines the beam-based minimum variance soft constraint beamformer and shows that the beamformer array gain is almost always a function of SNR. The analysis shows that the MVSC array gain is necessarily a nonincreasing function of SNR and, in fact, is either strictly decreasing or constant relative to SNR. This result supplements earlier results of Van Veen and helps explain behavior observed in processed data.

B-Mode Photoacoustic Imaging using Linear Array: Numerical Study for Forward-Backward Minimum Variance Beamformer Combined with Delay-Multiply-and-Sum
Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) is a promising medical imaging modality which provides the resolution of Ultrasound (US) and the contrast of Optical imaging modalities. One of the most important challenges in PAI is image formation, especially in the case that a linear-array US transducer is used for data acquisition. This is due to the fact that in the linear-array scenario, there is only 60 degre...
متن کاملDesign of Rotman Lens Antenna at Ku-Band Based on Substrate Integrated Technology
In this research work, a multibeam antenna which is a combination of a beamformer network (BFN) and a linear array antenna, has been designed. A Rotman lens has been chosen as beamformer network and Vivaldi antennas have been selected for constructing array antenna. The Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) was used for implementing Rotman lens. After explanation the structure of Substrate integ...
متن کاملRobust adaptive beamforming using data dependent constraints
An adaptive beamformer which is robust to uncertainty in source DOA is derived. The beamformer is a weighted sum of minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) beamformers pointed at a set of candidate DOAs, where the relative contribution of each MVDR beamformer is determined from a combination of observed data and prior knowledge about the DOA. When SNR is high, the MVDR beamformer whose ...
متن کاملGSC-based adaptive beamforming with multiple-beam constraints under random array position errors
This paper deals with the problem of adaptive beamforming under random array position errors to provide multiple-beam constraints and suppress jammers simultaneously. Using a steering matrix with each column vector corresponding to the steering vector of a selective beam and a constraint vector with each entry equal to the gain of a selective beam, we construct the quiescent weight vector and t...
متن کاملSignal Enhancement in Wireless Communication Systems
The growth of wireless communication continues. There is a demand for more user capacity from new subscribers and new services such as wireless internet. In order to meet these expectations new and improved technology must be developed. A way to increase the capacity of an existing mobile radio network is to exploit the spatial domain in an efficient way. An antenna array adds spatial domain se...
